The Madrid
Building
Being on the
National Register of Historic Places, the goal
of the Madrid Building renovation was to respect
the Classical Revival style of the building.
Thus, the objective was to create a class A
office building while restoring the history of
the building which opened in 1929. This was
done on the exterior by restoring the limestone
and tuckpointing the masonry. A new metal
canopy over the main entrance reflects the
period style of the building.
The interior of the
main entry lobby was restored to its original
grandeur by removing all interior material and
bringing it back to its original structure. A
re-imagined lobby with marble floors, wood
paneling, tray ceilings and decorative
chandeliers capture the era of the late 1920’s
when it was finished.
Everything else is
unmistakably 21st century.
Thus, you have the
look of a historic building, but you don’t feel
like your going to work in an old building.
