The rooftop
restaurant of the Galt House Hotel recently
underwent a $2 millionrenovation that
transformed it from the old Flagship Room to
the spanking new Rivue (derived from River
View).
After taking
the elevator to the 25th floor,
one enters the lobby with its beautiful,
highly polished black and white floor, glass
topped tables and clear glass vessels filled
with aromatic white flowers, and two tall,
red-covered chairs set off like an Erte
covered print against dark wood walls.
A short hallway
takes you into Rivue restaurant’s main
dining room, but not until you pass
floor-to-ceiling mirror accents reflecting
the cityscape behind as you move to the
panoramic views of the river ahead.
Soft,
comfortable and cloud white sofas and
chairs, on striking black and white
carpeting, are positioned beneath a red tray
ceiling to create conversation areas in the
cozy bar area. The walls are adorned with
lovely, simplistic black and white
photographs. Leading into the dining area
are bold, contemporary oil paintings that
add a dash of color to the walls. A
sparkling, ebony baby grand piano ads just
the right touch, assuring an enjoyable
evening of dining.
Tables are
topped in white linen; black napkins accent
the attractive white square service plates
and black vases holding a single white calla
lily complete the setting. These are
positioned beneath a series of tray ceilings
finished in metallic gold and accented with
soft, cove lighting and contemporary Italian
chandeliers.
The twin
revolving dining rooms are the only ones in
the world. There is also a semi-private
dining area that seats up to twelve. The
Waterfront Room offers capacity for 240
people for special events.
Rivue is a chic
and swanky eatery. It’s modern, but with an
art deco flair.
